Soap flakes are ideal for both cleaning and soap treatment of wooden floors and tiled floors. The flakes have been used for generations as a traditional Danish cleaning method, particularly known for its ability to maintain the natural beauty of wood for years. Soap flakes can be used to clean wooden floors, leaving them clean and well-maintained. They are also perfect for soap treatment of lye-treated floors and wooden furniture, giving them a protective and attractive patina. Soap flakes are suitable for cleaning various surfaces, including untreated and lacquered wood, tile, and stone floors, as well as terrazzo and linoleum.

Our soap flakes are manufactured in Denmark following a traditional old Danish recipe. We take pride in this white quality, which has the perfect size and the right fat content of 80%. This ensures you, as the consumer, receive the best quality. The flakes are made from palm oil and coconut oil. They contain no perfume, preservatives, or optical brighteners. Good quality can be recognized as follows: When the flakes dissolve in boiled water (cooled to hand-warm) and the water turns gray, the quality is poor and may cause the wood to turn gray.

How we recommend you soap-treat your wooden floors, etc.:

Before you start, have the following ready:

10 L floor bucket, floor cloth, micare soap flakes, floor scrubber, abrasive pads, grain 180 (for stubborn stains/marks)

  1. Dissolve 20 grams of soap per 1 liter of hand-warm water. (We recommend boiled water cooled to hand-warm before adding the soap flakes).
  2. Clean the floor thoroughly with the lukewarm soapy water – clean in the direction of the wood grain.
  3. Finish by rinsing with a hard-wrung clean cloth and cold clean water. (This is done to remove excess soap residue and to avoid dissolving the fat in the soap).
  4. The floor can be walked on once it is completely dry.

How we recommend you soap-treat your natural stone and tiled floors:

Before you start, have the following ready:

10 L floor bucket, cotton floor cloth, micare soap flakes, floor scrubber, optional: a scrubbing brush for stubborn dirt in grout.

  1. Dissolve the flakes in pre-boiled water that has cooled to hand-warm. Use 10 g of soap flakes per 1 liter of water (about 1/4 cup).
  2. Whisk the flakes thoroughly until they are dissolved.
  3. Place the cotton cloth in the soapy water and wash. (Change the water as needed).
  4. Allow the floor to dry completely before walking on it.

Soap flakes are good for cleaning tiled floors for several reasons: They are mild and contain no harsh chemicals, making them gentle on tiled surfaces. They clean effectively without damaging the surface or removing the natural shine. Soap flakes made from natural fats can be more environmentally friendly than many commercial cleaning products. This makes them a good choice for those who wish to avoid synthetic chemicals. When soap flakes are dissolved and used to clean tiled floors, they leave a light soap film on the surface. This film can help protect the floor from dirt and stains by making it harder for grime to adhere to the surface. Finally, soap flakes can also be good for cleaning and maintaining the grout between tiles. The mild soap residues can help keep the grout free from dirt and grime while keeping it moist and preventing drying out.

Important tips:

  • Use on stone surfaces: Make sure to whisk the soap flakes well to avoid soap residue.
  • Safety: Be aware that soap flakes can make surfaces slippery, especially in the bathroom. Make sure to rinse off excess soap thoroughly.
  • Wood treatment: Always test on a small area before treating old wood. Avoid use on veneer, as it may dissolve the glue.

You can add a teaspoon of titanium white or a bit of pipe cleaner to the soapy water to brighten and maintain your lye-treated wooden floors.

Soap flakes can also be used for laundry, foot baths, wound cleaning, and more.
