Soap Care for Indoor Wood

Our care soap is a truly unique product, and we are proud of it. The product is made from raw soap and demineralized water. Regular tap water contains salts, lime, and minerals that can damage your furniture over time. It is crucial to regularly care for your indoor wood to preserve its natural beauty and longevity - micare's care soap is ideal for this purpose. Not only does it effectively clean, but it also creates a protective barrier against everyday wear and dirt, helping to maintain the wood’s original appearance and quality over time.

How We Recommend Cleaning and Maintaining Your Indoor Wooden Furniture:

Before you start, you should have the following ready:

  • micare care soap
  • A tightly wrung microfiber cloth
  • micare sanding sponge grain 180
  1. Moisten the accompanying Oeko-Tex certified sponge, wring it out lightly so that it’s not dripping wet.
  2. Apply plenty of soap to the sponge, creating foam by squeezing the sponge in your hand.
  3. Clean the wood by massaging the soap foam in circular motions.
  4. Rinse the sponge as needed and repeat step 1. When no more dirt is coming off on the sponge, the item is clean.
  5. Let the soap absorb into the wood for a few minutes.
  6. If any soap remains on the surface after treatment, wipe it off with the tightly wrung microfiber cloth. The wood now needs to dry completely. At room temperature, this takes about 24 hours.

If the wood is very dry and absorbent, you can apply an extra layer of protective and nourishing soap foam. Repeat the process to achieve a soap saturation, but this time apply the rich soap foam lightly in the direction of the wood grain. If any soap foam remains after treatment, wipe it off with the tightly wrung microfiber cloth.

Wood exposed to water may develop raised fibers. These can be easily removed by sanding with a micare sanding sponge grain 180, which can be found under products on this website. It is important to sand in the direction of the wood grain. Our sanding sponges can be rinsed and reused multiple times.

With regular soap treatment, the raised fibers will stop, and the treated item will develop a protective soap layer that prevents liquids and dirt from penetrating the wood.

For daily cleaning, remove dust and crumbs with a dry cloth. If food spills occur, you can dab the dry sponge in the soap and clean in the direction of the wood grain. When the wood becomes moist again, it is important to let it dry completely before placing items on it, as this could otherwise cause marks in the form of moisture stains. Ideally, wait an hour, or even better, overnight.
