SOAP CARE FOR INDOOR WOOD
Our care soap is a truly unique product, and we are proud of it. It is made from raw soap and demineralised water. Ordinary tap water contains salts, limescale and minerals that can damage your furniture over time. Regular care is essential to preserve the natural beauty and lifespan of your indoor wood. micare care soap is ideal for this purpose. It not only cleans effectively but also forms a protective barrier against everyday wear and dirt, helping preserve the wood’s original appearance and quality over time.
How we recommend cleaning and maintaining your indoor wooden furniture
Before you start, have the following ready:
micare care soap and the supplied OEKO-TEX certified sponge – a bucket of lukewarm water – a thoroughly wrung-out microfibre cloth – micare 180-grit sanding sponge.
- Dampen the supplied OEKO-TEX certified sponge and squeeze it out lightly. It must not be so wet that it drips.
- Apply plenty of soap to the sponge and work up a lather by squeezing the sponge in your hand.
- Clean the wood by massaging in the lather using circular movements.
- Rinse the sponge as needed and make fresh, clean lather. Once no more dirt appears on the sponge, the item is clean.
- Let the soap soak into the wood for a couple of minutes.
- If any soap remains on the surface after treatment, wipe it off with the thoroughly wrung-out microfibre cloth. The wood must now dry completely. At room temperature, this takes about 24 hours.
If the wood is very dry and absorbent, you can apply another layer of protective, saturating lather. Repeat the process to saturate the wood with soap, but this time gently apply the rich lather along the grain.
If any lather remains on the surface after treatment, wipe it off with the thoroughly wrung-out microfibre cloth.
Water can cause wood fibres to rise. These are easily removed by sanding along the grain with a micare 180-grit sanding sponge, available under products on this website. It is important to sand along the grain to avoid scratching the wood. Our sanding sponges can be rinsed and reused again and again.
With regular soap treatment, the fibres will stop rising and the treated item will develop a protective soap film that prevents liquids and dirt from penetrating the wood.
For daily cleaning, remove dust and crumbs with a dry cloth. If food has been spilt, dab the dry sponge directly into the soap and clean along the grain. When the wood becomes damp again, it must dry completely before you put items back on it, otherwise moisture marks may appear. Allow an hour or two, ideally overnight.
