Concrete becomes dull, dirty and dry over time, especially outdoors. Applying balm can help prevent newly purchased concrete furniture from drying out. The balm protects against the penetration of limescale, water, coffee, red wine and similar substances.

The balm can deepen the colour, so the treated item may become slightly darker.
We always recommend testing on an inconspicuous area before starting.
How often you need to repeat the treatment depends entirely on temperature exposure, sunlight, use and wear.

A good way to check is to feel the concrete. If it feels silky smooth and water forms beads, it is saturated. If it has become rough to the touch, you have left the next treatment a little too late.

How we recommend cleaning and maintaining your concrete surface:

Before you start, have the following ready:

micare cleaning soap – micare balm – a scouring sponge, two microfibre cloths and a suitable polishing cloth.

• Start by lightly dampening your concrete furniture.
• Use the supplied OEKO-TEX certified sponge to apply the cleaning soap, massaging in circular movements. Allow the soap to work, keeping the surface wet throughout, ideally for 15–20 minutes.
• For stubborn dirt and limescale, use the abrasive side of a scouring sponge. If the furniture is very dirty, we recommend rinsing the care sponge or scouring sponge in warm water as you go.
• Wash off soap residue and limescale with a wet microfibre cloth and warm water.
• Let the item dry completely before applying balm. Dip the supplied sponge into the balm and wipe off any excess on the edge.
• Apply an ultra-thin layer of balm, massaging it in using circular movements. Make sure you reach all edges and crevices.
• Buff with a suitable polishing cloth. Glossy polished concrete must always be buffed afterwards. The furniture is ready to use immediately.

If the item feels greasy, you have used too much balm. The balm is easiest to work with at a room temperature of 20–25°C.

If your water contains a lot of limescale and you struggle to keep your concrete free of it, we recommend cleaning with micare naturren, which easily tackles tougher dirt.
