Impregnate Your Leather

Leather is a durable material that can last for many years if properly cared for and maintained. Regular care is essential to preserve its color, suppleness, and resistance to daily wear and tear. With micare balm, you can impregnate your leather products to prevent liquids from penetrating the leather and causing damage. Additionally, it helps prevent the leather from drying out and losing its natural beauty.

The balm softens and becomes pliable in warmth; therefore, we recommend working with and storing the balm at room temperature, between 20-25 degrees Celsius.

How we recommend you impregnate your Leather: It is crucial that micare multi surface conditioner is applied in an ultra-thin layer. Think of it like a flower that MUST have water: without water, it will dry out, but too much water will drown it. Similarly, leather can be over-treated. Therefore, it is important to work with the balm at room temperature and only apply the amount the leather can absorb and needs.

Before you start, make sure you have the following ready: micare multi surface conditioner, and possibly micare care soap, if cleaning is necessary.

  • Before you begin, ensure that the item you want to treat is clean and dry.

  • It’s advisable to clean the leather with micare care soap, which is the soap we recommend for leather care. The moisture from the soap nourishes the leather. Wait about an hour, then apply the multi surface conditioner.

  • Since the color may darken, we recommend testing on an inconspicuous area first.

  • Rub the clean and dry sponge into the balm container a few times and wipe off any excess multi surface conditioner on the edge.

  • Then, massage the conditioner into the item in circular motions. It's better to use too little than too much conditioner on the item. Note: There should NOT be a visible layer of multi surface conditioner on the item; it should be massaged in immediately.

  • The multi surface conditioner also helps retain moisture in the leather, so if your leather is extremely dry, it’s beneficial to clean/care for it with the care soap before applying the balm. Once finished, the furniture is ready for use.

In general, leather furniture benefits from treatment twice a year. In special cases, where items are exposed to drafts, direct sunlight, or very high temperatures, an extra treatment may be necessary.

Apply the treatment to leather items such as: Chairs, sofas, car leather seats, ottomans, daybeds, coasters, leather shoes/boots, oilskin jackets, wallets, bags, leather-bound books, saddles, bridles, riding boots, hunting boots, football boots, sneakers, leather pants, leather jackets, etc.

micare multi surface conditioner is not suitable for suede and Alcantara. For some nubuck qualities that are finely buffed and resemble smooth leather, or in extremely dry cases, conditioner can be used. We ALWAYS recommend testing on an inconspicuous area first.

Be aware that the multi surface conditioner may transform buffed nubuck into smooth leather.
